CLEAR Tokenomics Guide

This guide will help you migrate from NEXT to CLEAR and access the new staking opportunities— vote and participate in Season 1.

Dashboard

Your main portal provides a broad overview of your portfolio, current APY, claimable rewards, and how your vbCLEAR was used to vote (or delegate) in the current epoch, which lasts for 2 weeks.

You will initially see a maximum APY of 20% for staked CLEAR.

Once you stake, the dashboard will show the time-weighted average of your APY.

Migrating (NEXT→CLEAR)

This step is required for NEXT holders on Ethereum (L1) only.
NEXT holders on L2s will be automatically migrated from NEXT to CLEAR.

Steps:

Connect the wallet where you hold NEXT.

Select the amount of NEXT you want to upgrade.
Click Upgrade and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Unwrapping (CLEAR →NEXT)

You can unwrap your CLEAR back into NEXT at any time.

From the migration page, click on the arrow to swap the order of the assets.
Click Upgrade to initiate the unwrapping.

Staking

Staking allows you to lock your tokens to earn CLEAR and ETH rewards from the current season.

You can stake CLEAR tokens from any supported chain.
CLEAR rewards are distributed on the same chain you staked.
ETH rewards are always received on Arbitrum.

Steps:

Select the amount of CLEAR to stake (or click Max).
Choose the locking duration (minimum 3 months, maximum 24 months).
- The longer you stake, the higher the APY and voting power you earn.
- This APY is guaranteed for the current epoch.
  ‍
- ⚠️ Please Note: For early withdrawals, the penalty will be between a minimum of 5% to a maximum of 22.5% and will be proportional to the remaining lock period divided by 24.
  
  e.g. when there is 12 weeks or less remaining in your lock period the penalty will be 5%. If you have 104 weeks or more remaining in your lock period the penalty will be 22.5%. In between these values the penalty scales linearly.

Review the estimated APY shown in the details section, calculated using:‍
- Combined APY: APY = 6.67E-03 * lock_months + 0.04‍
- ETH APY: ETH_APY = min(0.00667 * lock_months, 0.06)‍
- CLEAR APY: CLEAR_APY = max(0.00667 * lock_months - 0.02, 0.04)‍
Confirm the transaction in your wallet to activate staking.

Rewards from the previous epoch can be claimed via the dashboard. Please note that rewards are subject to a 1-week cooldown after the epoch ends.

Unstaking

You can unstake at any time, but penalties apply if you do so before the locking period expires. The penalty is proportional to the remaining locking period.

Voting

Voting for a chain increases emissions directed to that chain, incentivizing solvers to allocate more liquidity and reducing costs for bridgeable amounts.

Key Notes:

You can find indicators on the current epoch duration and how much vbCLEAR has been staked so far.
The pie chart on the left-hand side shows how votes have been allocated across chains.
You may vote for only one chain per voting period.
Votes are recorded onchain and cannot be changed until the next epoch.
Votes are valid for one epoch only, so you must cast a vote each epoch.

Steps:

Select the chain to vote for.
Click Vote and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Once complete, the dashboard updates with your action and the amount of vbCLEAR staked.

Delegating‍

Delegating allows you to assign your voting power to another staker who will decide where to allocate incentives on your behalf.

You still earn Season 1 rewards with vbCLEAR.
Delegation remains active across epochs but can be removed any time.
If the delegate has already voted for the current epoch, you must wait until the epoch ends to undelegate.

Steps:

Connect your wallet via the button in the top-right corner.
Select the wallet to delegate to and click Delegate.
- Recommendations:
  - Delegate to active voters.
  - Avoid allocating power to top delegates to maintain decentralization.
Enter the amount of vbCLEAR to delegate and confirm the transaction.

Delegation will apply from the next epoch.
